When is high flow too much flow?

Hey folks - Flow is a weird thing to quantify. I placed a Purple Acropora approx 12 inches from my MP40 - almost inline with it. It's running nutrient export mode but also run reef crest (on full)

Am I blasting it with too much flow? I don't know how much Sps can take and still leave the polyps in it :)

Thoughts?

Leave it and see how the skin reacts. If you see it start to peel, it's too much flow.

The only time I think anyone has too much flow is if the fish are pinned on the glass. :)

I get some weird growth when my sps are being blasted, but ive never had and tissue recession because of it. However, it is possible!

Here is a red planet that grew into an 1800gph blast from a Reeflo dart on an OM 4 way

You can see the bottom of the coral just flattened out.

Thanks. It's all gone now, but I'm rebuilding to get back to that again.

I am a fan of lots of different kinds of high flow within an aquarium and for me even thru sump/refugium. This build i have 1- 4200gph main flow and 4- Blow Hole 2750s for the close loop......last tank had 3- 3600 Dolphins. Great coral growth, healthy system:)
