Anemones for life
So... i debated if i wanted to throw up a post on my newly arrived S. Gig from Live Aquaria... or wait about a week or 2..and see how things played out with it..
i got the email notification that they were back in stock in the marine section the other morning...early early morning.. so thought i would give it a shot... i saw they had a Small and Large available, i picked up the small (im assuming they had only one in stock cause after i purchased it was out of stock and i bought it probably 20 minutes after the email notification ) ...
anyways! ... after 2 days of waiting, it finally arrived here this morning!... bag had some particals floating in it.. so i did this acclimation attempt the SAME way i did my haddoni procedure (since it gave me luck in the past with my haddoni, only problem is i ran into the same situation where the foot attached to the bottom of the container :debi:, figured id learn the first time) i tipped the container upsaide down and after about 3 minutes he had let go by himself.. everything appears 100% fine.. i placed him in the center of my tank where all my powerhead flows kinda hit eachother, i figured this would be the spot with the most strong..random..flow..
i would say this gig is roughly 3-4 inches.. not very big, but thats more exciting when i get to watch it grow =]
its mouth was a hair bit open the entire acclimation process.. (started at 10:00 a.m. this morning) .. and id say i only acclimated it for about 45 minutes.. here's my procedure i do.. i get a clear tuppaware container.. pour oldwater and speciman into it let it float in the water.. to adjust to temperature.. and probably every 5-10 minutes i do 1 shot glass full of water changes.. sometimes 2.., also depending on the container, vary's between shot glass or a typical cup) ..
also, the Verracue were purple on the underside, and bumpy... so thats good right?
onto the pictures...
This is 5 minutes after it arrived
i think it looks pretty colorful here =]
this is 3 hours into the tank... foots 100% attached to that rock.. i think he's still calming down...
closer shot
Flash Shot..
ive read so many posts of S. Gig's dieing after a week... so thats why i debating on throwing this post up now, or a week from now, but as you can tell...i decided id just throw it up now...
those pics were from earlier i get newer ones later tonight
