When they say small..they mean small! S. Gigantea attempt.

is there any chemical/medicine i could possibly run to help it? ...

that is possibly fish safe too?.. as i got fish in this tank as well.. medium length temporary setup going on here.. =/

Suck :( How is the Haddoni doing? Still deflated? Hope it wasn't an infection that passed.

its inflated during the day, and deflated during the night pretty badly... its definantly abnormal for him to be doing this.. well this much anyways.. i dont think he really ever deflated at night when i checked on him... but now he's definantly deflating pretty badly at night. and i hope and pray an infection wasnt passed along, as i just did another water change on the 75g tonigth again as well.. we'll see how it plays out..

I have observed this joint inflation/deflation response before between haddonis and giganteas, but with no other two clown anemone species.

In addition to infection, the one other possible explanation may be due to stress chemicals and/or spawning. When anemones are badly stressed, they spawn. In the case of a small anemone spawning at night, you may not even be aware it has happened. However haddonis and giganteas may be closely related enough that the chemical triggers in the water cause the same synchronous spawning behavior that it does in the wild. The haddoni may have spawned the first night, and may be continuing to try to spawn every night as long as the chemical triggers are present(?) Just a thought...

Interesting theory BonsaiNut. It makes sense. And I'd be careful about adding iodide without testing.

im calling the s. gig dead.. it now looks like its falling apart... insides are coming out... hasnt been inflated in nearly 2 days.... idk if it was shipping stress or something i personally did.. =/ like not running carbon. =[

i appreciate everyone's helpful tips though, and i envy everyone who has a S. Gig.. perhaps i shall just watch all your guy's threads for now and give it another go in the future

How's the haddoni looking? The gig was most likely stressed from the importation/shipping and thats all it takes unfortunately...I would suggest getting a gig locally off craiglist, your local reef club, or lfs. They are quite hardy once established. I have even bought gigs off ebay once I found out that it had been already in someone elses' tank for a while. Sorry for the loss.
