When to add SPS

I think I 've got plenty of flow -
2 MaxiJet 1200's for returns and a Vortech MP10 (used on Random Reef Crest Mode).

But I've got some Koralia Nano's I can stick in there :)

+1 on the vortech - I didn't see that you had one.
defiantly plenty of flow. I have one on mine too and love it.

Sorry, I'm stumped.

I think the stray voltage (40volts) is what was killing my acros.

Since I've put the ground probe in, one of my Acros that was losing tissue and had no poylps has started to extend polyps again. The Birdsnext is still mostly white on top brown on bottom, but has polyps.

I got rid of the 4 Korali Nano's in place of the MP-10. Nanos were nice cause I could point them directly at a coral. But you could hardly feel any flow 4" arway from them. I also have a Koralia 1 in the tank - I had it shooting across the back when I had the Nanos' in place but since then I've left it unplugged - Mostly left it in (as backup) until I gained confiedence in the MP10.

I'll see how things go with tank now.

I hope that the voltage was the cause of your problems. It sounds like things are improving since you added the ground! I'm curious if you ever determined which of your devices could have been causing it. Good luck.

The Velvet Sea

I'm still working on the voltage issue - I've been taking the probe off in order to trace down the culprit. Earlier this week I totally took the tank down (unplugged everything not just turn off) and voltage went away when I unplugged the last item (my Profilux controller)... So I started to persue that as an issue.

However while investigating the Profilux - I found that voltage was not present IF I didnt have my laptop attached to the Profilux. So... It sounds as if the issue is with the laptop and lack of ground on the Comms/serial port. Soon to no longer be an issue with version 3 of the Profilux. The sympton is also not present if the laptop is run using a battery instead of wall charger.

As for the condition of the coral - The birdsnest and monti are still very white but have polyps. Time will tell. The acro (tort) which did not have polyps for a week and started losing tissue from the bottom up has started to open polyps (very slightly) again...

I'll give another update in a week - hopefully with good news :)

Thanks
