Hi all. I have lurked for years and now am deciding to post finally. I have recently had my red BTA split. It was 10 days ago. They seem healed but should I wait to feed? I have never dealt uploadfromtaptalk1445466849579.jpg with them splitting before. Any advice would be much appreciated[emoji4]

You don't need to feed them at all, ever. If I were to feed though, I'd probably wait till their mouths reformed.

Thank you much! I have very song lights so you are probably right, they don't need particle feeding. That is probably why it split in the first place.

You can feed them once their mouth is healed, usually 10 days to two weeks.

BTA's don't need to be fed if they are healthy and you have quality lighting. If you do feed them they will grow faster than if you don't and they can get very large... as long as they don't split before that :lmao:

Yes. I guess that I am just used to my carpet who really needs to be fed or he eats my fish. I am glad to know that they will thrive with out food. It is so much fun to feed them though! However, I don't want 10 BTAs in my tank :-\

Just wait till it heals as mentioned and then keep spot feeds small and not too often.
I will give mine a small piece of raw scallop, and I only do that when I've made scallops for dinner!

Lol! Same here. We are also shell fish/seafood lovers in my family. Hence why mine are so well fed!
