When will the smell disapate?

I have a new 300 gal and in the sump area is starting to smell raw and fish musty . I wonder if the tank will finally settle and not be so strong in the house ?

If you just started the tank then the smell is from all the dead stuff decaying. Should go away after your cycle.

Give it a month or two.

cool, It just has an odd odor . Like a fresh water tank water !! Doesnt smell like the ocean yet .

that's just the sponges and what not dieing off the rocks

Water changes will help in such a case. They remove the nastiness that doesn't help the cure, the tank or your olfactory nerves.
