When will they change sex?

I have had my lyretail anthias school of 9 females for over 3 months now. Still no male. I would really like to have one change but if worse comes to worse I may just buy one. How much longer will it take. I saw on the DicoveryHD that in the wild it usually takes about a week. Thanks, Tim

they will change if conditions are right
and even then they may stay the same sex according to my knowledge
i dont know too much about changeing sex
but i would just go buy a male
i think if they havent changed by now
they might ever

just my opinion

hopes this helps
Steven.

They may still be sorting it out or one may already be acting like a male with color changes to follow. Behavior is first followed by the chromatic changes. IMHO you shouldn't buy another one, you could end up with 2 males. Can you identify a dominant female?

When I got them some already had an elongated 3rd dorsal spine. I can tell which one is the dominant female. The problem is she already kind of has a long dorsal spine. The reason that I asked was because I think that I read that if they were kept in big enough schools that they would not change as the aggression would be so spread out. Thanks, Tim

Hmmm....I didn't know that - I'd still give them longer than 3 mo.

I know when you have evenly matched fish, as in size and temperament, it's likely to take longer than if they were all a half inch apart in size, for example
