Where are your chillers

I've got a 1/4hp chiller on my 90 gal and she is working OT to keep the tank cool.

I've got her under the stand with a fan on her but I'm starting to think that this is not going to work out.

Where do you have your chiller?

i dont have a chiller in my tank .. i use fan on a apex to keep the tank cool... i know alot of people remote the chiller outside not to add heat to the tank from the chiller working under the tank..

I keep my chiller next to my stand under a desk. This way it can cool down more efficiently. The chiller's ability to cool is directly affected by it's ambient temperature. I also use a fan on a controller which turns on before the chiller. (the chiller is more for emergencies).

No chiller for me. i use one 6 inch fan and my RKE to keep tank cool. Its cheaper to top off than it is to run a chiller. Plus LED make the tank much cooler ;)

I used external pump like reeflo and my chiller only turn on few times (~5 times) last summer. I do have clip on fan controlled by my auqatronica - turn on when MH is on and turn on when temp at 80F.

Before I switch to external pump, chiller will turn on almost everyday during summer time.

btw, I put the chiller next to my tank.

My chillers are on the side of the house. Outside.=) This way when they do go on which is rare. It does not heat up my fish room. Its covered and away from most of the eliments. The chillers are more used as a back up for me. trying to to save watts on pumps and powerheads also keeps the heat down to.

my place is usually in the high 70s. I'm running a PC55 external return and its hot as shizzle under my stand so I've put a fan under there.

I've got a 400w MH that sits about a foot from the top of the tank and is open.

I use fans in my canopy and on the sump, all on the controller plus a 1/4 horse chiller as a backup located outside the stand so it doesn't add heat to the system.

I would definitely move the chiller out of the stand. Also is your tank open top or do you have a canopy?

alright. So I need to add a fan to the sump and to the canopy on a controller. I'm expecting a RKL that I got from someone on here. I'm assuming I can use this to hook up the fans and chiller to help regulate the tank??

Also, how do you guys plumb the chiller? I've got it hooked up to a pump right now.

Right now my light is sitting on the tank without the canopy - but eventually the light will be in the canopy.

You guys rock. The help is seriously appreciated.

For those that run a fan in the sump, do you get alot of salt spray all over the placE? I put a fan in my sump a few weeks ago and after a few days with the fan on there was alot of salt spray all over the place:(
My living room gets pretty hot in the summer like in the low 90's so I'll have to be connecting my chiller soon.

The light is sitting on the tank? I thought you said it was a foot above the tank? Got pics of the setup? And yes you can easily hook up the fans and the chiller to the rkl. Make sure the temp probe is accurate though.

I use a maxijet pump to feed the chiller.

is your stand ventilated? some are open in the back, some arent..

if your stand itself isnt well ventilated, it can be a heat trap.

i use a clip on 6 inch fan running all the time in my stand blowing on the sump and it maintains 82 (i dont have a controller) and thats with my house being always pretty hot

+1 on the moving your chiller out of your stand, when i had my 60, i had it in a seperate stand on the side.

i never got it everywhere, but i had it on the fan, i just raised it and PRESTO, issue solved.

i also resolved some of the issues causing the salt spray to begin with (bubbles)
