Where can i buy a dwarf octopus from?

His best bet is to have an LFS down there order one that's supposed to be a dwarf and hope that it is. Species available there will most likely be different than the dwarfs typically available in the states, the most common would be O. Mercatoris or O. Joubini, both common to Florida waters. He also might be able to find an Aussie website that has a dwarf.

What is the max size they get? Are most reef temp critters or are most temperate?

Most dwarfs are tropical species. About 5 inches tops. Very nocturnal.

we have them native here to florida. only get aobut 8" front tenticle to tenticle. Called dwarf gulf octo. I have seen them while out looking for my clean up crew.

Scientific names for the 2 most common FL dwarfs are O. Mercatoris and O. Joubini. They are the best dwarf for the states but I doubt they are available in AU.
