where can i find a list of pic's to id my clam?
i got him for a steal of a deal, and dont know the exact type he is. he is kinda plain in color, but is quite large, a little bigger than a base ball. someone was selling him through the lfs. any help would be appreciated.

i think its a Tridacna squamosa . the shell seems to fit on the link you posted. however the coloration is not verry bright and vivid. i guess i need to tak a pic of him and post it. he is about as big as a base ball. with purple and brown colors, the purples are not bright, more like brownish purples. fall color purples. thanks for the help, and if i get my digi cam back soon, ill post a pic of him

where can i find out info on the Crocea? im curious about lighting too. i know some clams do well under pc lighting, which is what he is in, and doing great for several weeks now i might add. any help on that type of clam would be appreciated.

thanks
john

You should look into Daniel Knopp's book. Most people would recommend strong MH lighting for Maximas and Croceas to thrive.

Here's a pic of 3 Maximas and 1 Squamosa:
All under 400 watts of 20k Radiums............

this thing is just too cool, he is thriving real good. i was scepticle at getting him at first with the pc lighting, but he shows no sign of lacking anything. and is open nicely all the time. he was under halides at the lfs, but color hasnt changed any. the only thing i noticed was that the pattern in his mantle and fleshy part got more intense when i put him in my tank. im running about 260 wats per gallon on my 55 reef. so im not worried. dave thanks for the info. its been real appreciative.
