Where do u have your Purple Hornets??

I just got 1 polyp of purple hornet and want it to thrive and grow to a colony. I just got it on wednesday and have it on the bottom 1/3 of my tank under 2 150watt 14K phoenix bulbs but its been 2 days and its not fully opened just half way. I just wanted to know where u guys have your purple hornets in your tank and under what kind of lighting?? Thx

i have mine up high under 250w mh,but they are shaded by an acro.IMO they like to be in high light but shaded somewhat.

I have mine 2/3 of the way up my tank (29 biocube) on a frag rack. Its under a Phoenix 14k 150w HQI. I've had it close to a month and it recently sprouted 2 babies, should open up any day.

why would i put them on ebay? i finally got mine a few days ago and theres no way i would sell it. and i keep mine on the bottom 1/3 of the tank under a 150watt 14k pendant.

I have mine on a rack about halfway up the side of the tank, lighting is 175w elos bulb. Colony has gone from two to five in about a month

i have about 30 heads in the top quarter of the tank. They fell behind some rockwork and were forgotten about for a few months so they need to get some light to color back up. i usually keep the about half way under a 250

I bet my 1/2 way up is a lot different than your 1/2 way up. hehe

no worries... just was weird to me.

Mine are 1/2 way up on a 12" tall tank
