where do you dump your old water?

I figured the same about the septic system, for the amount of fresh water that goes in everyday, it probably dilutes the salt fast.

Back on the first page a good point was made, dumping it into the gulf of mexico can introduce non-native algaes into the water.

If any of you guys have clicked the caluerpa link on the top of the page, they talk about even dumping water containing the fibers that hold caluerpa to the rock can help spread an infestation.

Not that I really care, though.

never flush if on septic kills benefical bactera in tank use as weed killer

Been doing it in the same house for 14 years.
No problem.
But I do use a python drain and fill, so the saltwater is diluted with freshwater that powers the syphon.

it doesnt kill the beneficial bacteria in your septic tank...that is a myth.

Im on septic as well and it either goes down the drain or I do in the summertime dump it in my driveway to kill weeds. Saltwater and sun does do a number on the driveway weeds.

My reason was that you want to limit the amount of water that goes into the tank when ever possible. Of course ro/di is a much larger problem then just the old saltwater. large amounts of water (including large amounts of laundry) push more solids from the first half of the tank into the second and finally into your leach lines. This can reduce the life of the leach lines which can be a very expensive (and messy) problem to fix. This isn't a problem you would notice until your lines start to slow down. Then there isn't anything you can do but replace them.

The saltwater will take its toll on the septic tank after a while

A funny thing...I have been dumping my water change water for the past 5 years now in a back part of my wifes garden. She decided to start putting flowers back there now & they are the best looking flowers in the garden ...HHHmmm Dont know
