Where do you learn about fishes? 75g stocklist

There are so many interesting fish in the hobby- but I'm not sure where to find out about more of them. Is there a good website or book that has pictures/names of marine fish? I'm trying to find more options for stocking my 75g.

As of now I plan to get the following:
-Sunrise Dottyback

One of the following:
-Mimic Tang
-Striated Bristletooth Tang
-Kole's Tang
-Tomini Tang
-Convict tang

Some other fish I'm considering:
-Sixline or McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Assuming one will be alright with the Dottyback.)

-Goby/Pistol Shrimp pair

-Gold Assessor Basslet (Assuming compatibility w/ Sunrise.)

"Marine Fishes", a poket guide" by Scott W. Michael is a useful book available in in paperback.

your actually already on one of the best sites to find out what you need. Reefcentral has been where i have obtained most of my info. You can also use wetwebmedia.com as well. Coral Magazine and Aquarium Fish International are good magazines with a lot of good info too.

Thanks TMZ. I'll have to pick that up.

Thanks for the link rgentry. I know this is a great website- but we don't really have a section/thread that just has different fish & their pictures posted. That's what I'm looking for- a list w/ pictures of marine fish so I can find ones that peak my interest & then do my research on them.

The "Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner is another good book.

You are already narrowing your list down to fish that should live comfortably in your tank, but beware of dottybacks. These tend to be mean little fish that will absolutely pick on fish that have a similar body shape (including blennies and wrasses!). If this is a must have for you, it will limit your other stocking choices in your tank. Honestly, I do not know what they are truly compatible with!

I really like the dottybacks. I'd say they're my favorite fish. I'm hoping the Sunrise won't be as aggressive as the neon's are. It'll also likely be the last fish I add to the tank as I know I need to add the more docile fish to the tank first.

In the past I had a Springer's Dottyback that got along fine with a Chromis, Lawnmower Blenny, pair of clowns, & a Yellow Watchman Goby. I don't know if the Wrasse or Basslett will look to similar to the Dottyback, though.

I just go to live aquaria and browse their pictures and see what I like. then find out if its compatible.

Just spent some time doing that & came up with quite a list. :P

+1 or I just google the fish I am wondering about.

I was trying to find some new fish I hadn't heard of or seen before. Going through Live Aquaria I've come up with a pretty big list that I can go through & research now.

Looks like I might be nixing the Sunrise & go with a goby & wrasse instead.

If you still want to try a dottyback, you might try a captive-bred orchid (P. freidmani). They are one of the least aggressive, and in my experience at least, a gorgeous, peaceful fish that got along fine with my gramma, fairy wrasses, and, blennies in a 55.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just found the Indigo Dottyback, which is a cross between the orchid & Sankey's dottybacks.

I can't believe their prices, though. I think I paid $15-20 for my Springer's Dottyback a few years ago.
