Where should we go on a snorkelling vacation?

We are trying to find a place that is fairly inexpensive to go on a snorkelling trip/vacation.

Last year we went to Grand Cayman and that was impressive. We did alot of snorkelling on 7 mile beach at the artificial reefs right in front of our hotel bar Marriott. We might go back there but I think we can stretch our dollar further.

Where do you recommend?

We watched a show last night about Jamaica gang violence. I would much rather spend the extra money @ Grand Cayman than go to Jamaica.

It's looking like back to Grand Cayman, 7 mile beach, expensive drinks. The bar tab is where we do the most damage.

Cayman's are my favorite of the Caribbean Islands. The reefs are excellent, especially when you get away from 7 mile beach. There's an entry by the Turtle Farm with excellent reefs, and also a small beach (hole in the weeds) on the North side, just past (west) where Frank Sound Road ends on the North side. Pretty much anyplace you can get beach entry is good along the East End and North Side.

Try florida keys for low cost.
Also, last minute deals at club med can be very good bargains. Turks & Caicos is very nice.
Dont forget priceline. I havent tried it for florida, but been routinelly getting 4* hotels in major US cities for $75-100/night.

Bonaire is of course fantastic. Consider getting scuba certified. Some good deals. Try Divi resort - excellent program, good rooms, nice reef out front.

If you want to spend a bit more Beqa Lagoon Fiji is absolutely fantastic.

Bora Bora Club med also fantastic. All depends on the "investment" your willing to make.

Come out here to San Diego and some very cool snorkeling as well (if you get the right days)

Just got back from a diving trip to Belize.
I have been to caymans, cozumel, key west, bahamas, st. thomas, and many more but the Belize Barrier reef was by far the best of them all IMO.

ImSpSing......Was the snorkelling good in Belize or is it better suited for diving? Is there good snorkelling there right close to shore?

We have thought about getting certified in diving but not yet.

Entropygain.......Fiji is on my bucket list but not this year. I just looked up some pics from fiji and wow. That place looks amazing.
