where can i see a great selection of livestock other than old town aquarium..... in or around chicago ?

Is there any types of fish in particular that you are looking for? There's Dark Lord Coral, Sea Schor, ShoTank, Ocean Design, etc that are in the suburbs and have nice selections of fish and a few of them also QT their fish before they are ready for sale.

Shotank on Route 45 in Mundelin always has a good selection. Good prices and they seem to be healthy.

DLC, if they dont have what you want they can order it in. As much as i hate to say it(because i had a falling out with them) Ocean design in the city always has a great selection.

I have good experiences with most of the stores listed here but my best consistent experience has been with Sho Tank so I will plug them. Every fish is healthy and quick to eat. They also often hold/watch fish that are iffy as opposed to try to force sell you what may turn out to be a goner.

Ocean Design has a policy of QTing all their fish for 2 weeks, before putting them out in the display for sale. Never lost a fish from them.

The best selection for fish in Chicago is, without question, Living Sea on Devon. Nobody comes close to the selection. www.livingseaaquarium.com

Now, when it comes to price, quality, friendliness, etc, that can be up for debate.

I vote for Sharky's. All of the fish in my tank are from there. They also just got a nice shipment in. I just picked up a really nice true perc there tonight.

Ocean Design if you want extremely healthy fish. Most of mine came from there.
Living Sea in Park Ridge if you want a 19 year old to talk down to you after ignoring you for a half hour and if money is no object. They have a great selection.

actually that place by belmont and damen has a good fish selection. I cant remember the name of the place but the fish seemed very healthy and they had a nice mix of basic and intermediate fish. small store but seems like its worth the trip.
