Curious where you all buy frozen cyclopeeze from? I was feeding Rod's food but am finding I get an nuisance algae outbreak w/ this food. Someonce suggested change foods......I am in Northwest suburbs.

all the reef shops in sw suburbs have it, reefwise, etc... usually in the freezer in redalmost aluminum foil looking packaging

how old are your bulbs ?would check that if all other variables are same ...that b4 food, the cyclopeeze is nice because it seems to float and not settle down. but i think my fish like the rods better... i tend to feed both at once.

bulbs are new...less than 1 month T-5's...I have noticed this happened before w/ the Rod's food too....I took a break from it for a while and started again recently and now HUGE algae bloom......:confused:

What size is your tank? Rod's is pretty potent stuff if you're feeding large chunks to a smaller tank. This is easy to do because you only really see the larger chunks as you feed... it's the smaller stuff that binds the meat together (around 5 microns) that can be easy to overfeed. Rod himself warned me about this on my nano... recommended alternating between Rod's and flake, or using smaller chunks and supplementing with his Pacific Reef Plankton (water packed). On my 24g, I use 1/2 dime size Rod's (Original) and dime size PR Plankton or Mysis... this give more meat, less juice. I alternate this with flake. Different systems have different needs.

new fish on division and milwaukee in chicago carries the cyclo in the red foil package shaped like a stick. call first to make sure they have in stock.

Thanks for the info. guys...The tank is a 125 gal but I think I may have just used too big of a piece a few times...cutting back seems to have helped a little..

Depending on how much you use, this may be the way to go;

It's very low in water and far more economical than buying it in those red "pops" at LFSs.
You need a plan for storage, though. Leaving the open package in your freezer will end in a big chunk being freezer burned and tossed in the trash.

Chicago fish and coral in orland park has cyclopeeze cubes amd they also have the frozen push pop kind
