question, where did you get your tank and how much was it to buy tank and have it delivered to your house.also is it safe to get glass that big (400-500 gallons)

also i am on long island

my original plan was to go with a marineland 265 but after seeing a few guys build threads on here, i might want to go bigger. I saw one maker online glasscages.com had big custom made glass tanks, anyone every use them before or heard of them

a 500 gallon glass tank with saffire glass in front and 3 overflows was 3900
oak stand was 999
delivery to freight company on long island was 800
so still need a truck and way to get into my house

I got mine from Concept Aquariums in Calgary, Alberta. I don't know if they export, but you could contact them. Prices will vary and depend on design. It cost me just under 5k ($cdn) to get it into my house. It is starphire 3 side and all 3/4" glass.

I just got a 300g build by acrylic creations in PA. David was very nice and helpful in helping with the design. so far really happy with it. cant wait to have it all setup and running.
What I really love most about it is the way he curved all the corners.
cost me $3700 delivered for tank and sump. I'm on long island too :)

I just priced and bought a custom 230g less than a year ago. I was looking for eurobraced with end external overflow. Here's roughly what I found: (Include delivery to NC, no stand)

Glasscages. $1400 but had quality, delivery, and customer service concerns (and only 1/2 in. glass)

Custom Aquariums. $1400 for my size, but couldn't do my overflow and they use a different sort of frame, plus had other concerns.

Coast to Coast (NJ?) $5600

Reef Saavy Never recieved final quote, but probably similiar to C2C

and I went with:
Miracles (Ontario) $3400
I'm very happy. Quality and customer service weren't perfect, but i'm satisfied!

My decision was also based upon answers from each concerning paying attention to the tin side of the glass when building -- but that's a whole different topic!
Hope that helps

also if you didnt get the tank , how you know they had bad quality, if i can ask

AquaVim is in your general area, Maspeth NY. They build in glass, in most any shape or size, and build very solidly: they seem to have showroom. Mine has some quirks---accessing it with a ladder is one---but I'm quite happy over all.

One thing about classcages is while they might have many failures, they also build many more tanks an the other builders do. Most of what I have seen or heard about them is sloppy seams. But the tanks are built like tanks is what ppl say. I considered them when I was upgrading. I went acrylic and local instead because it cost about the same. There are plenty of ppl on here who have had luck with classcages. Miracles is another one I hear good things about that is affordable.
