where to find true pink Nephthea?

I know a vendor that received a shipment of 'pieces' from Blue Harbor in Japan. They are not that pink. In fact if I told you to find the pink coral in the tank you probably wouldn't point to it. Hopefully one day they will color up, but it's been a couple of months since they arrived and they don't appear to be anything special yet.

Thank you for that report. From the pictures of it online it appears to be a nice pink color. I wonder if it needs iodine to color up? For instance Flamingo's are pink due to eating shrimp which contain large amounts of iodine. Thoughts?

Not sure on the iodine. I know that the nepthea are being kept with corals being grown out. The tanks have regular waterchanges and get heavy trace element supplements as well as amino acids and iodine dosing. And the tank have their trace elements monitored quite regularly to make sure everything is where it should be.

I think it's safe to say the Nepthea here in the states is getting Iodine available in similar proportions to Natural Sea Water. But if they were raising the iodine levels in Japan then that could be it as well.

Of course I have seen many Japanese Aquariums which use spotlights of different colors to highligh corals in a tank. So perhaps this flesh colored coral when put in front of a red spot light makes it look pink? Just another hypothetical speculation :)

Dave, do you have a build thread for your tank?

I have one; obtained recently from Manhattan Aquarium, which is owned by Unique. It isn't exactly hot pink or anything, but it is definitely a nice purplish pink. I have it next to a green capnella of about the same size and they look smashing together. If you like softies, this one is choice, imo.
