We are trying to establish a colony in the seahorse tank as a food source we fear the pe mysis has too much epa and produces a fatal fatty build up the seahorse eat both live and frozen the objective is to vary the diet we also use astaxathin from ham. Plu. For health and color we have used dans' enrichment with good luck so far ! The shrimp fish are the ultimate indicator of balanced nutrition in the artemia
I don't know anyone that has succeeded in establishing a colony of live foods in any meaningful numbers in the display tank itself as the seahorses are very diligent at hunting down and eating most of what is in the tank so that the remainder are unable to produce any quantities worth mentioning. It ends up being more of a treat.
It's much easier to grow them in a separate container and then harvest to place in the display tank.
If you are concerned about the PE, why not use Hikari?
In my case, I use the enriched live adult artemia to give a good balanced nutrient profile to my horses.
