Where to get holes drilled

I'm trying to set up a refugium and I need a bulkhead installed in a 10 gal tank. I don't want to buy a kit for one hole. Anyone know which LFS drill them and has the best price? Thanks for the help.

Eventually I would like to get a kit. I'm planning on setting up a 120 so there will plenty of holes necessary in that setup but thats about 8 months away and I'm not sure what size I will need for that so for now I think I will just pay someone. BTW thanks for the quick replies.

Do you have a drill? Can always do it youself, but 10gals tend to be a little tricky to drill due to the thin glass.

thats what we are here for good luck.

i beleive aquaworld also offers insurance for like an additional $25 a hole.

Wow the insurance would cost more than the 10 gal tank. I do have a drill. Several actually, I do maintenance for a living. I plan on getting a kit just not sure what size yet and I don't want to have to buy an additional kit in the future.

Its a 10 gallon tank. Even if u do crack it its not like it will cost u a arm and a leg to get a replacement lol

The glass on the 10gal tanks vary in thickness. The thin glass does not drill well. You can easily see the difference. I got lucky at a garage sale and found a 10 gal with thicker glass. Aquaworld drilled mine.

If anybody is willing to let me borrow their hole saw I'd be very appreciative. I will be picking up a tank this weekend hopefully but I'm in no rush to drill it as I have to plumb the tank to incorporate the refugium anyway.

What size = I have a one inch your welcome to borrow - we just finished putting a 1.5 and a 1 inch hole in 1/2 inch glass for my new office tank. It went great. Thanks Cloakerpoker ( Nate) for the use of your 1.5 inch saw. Let me know how I can get it back to you.

Ya the drilling went great without any problems! To be honest I was certain I would have screwed something up but fortunately was proven wrong.

Drilling is easy, and I never had trouble with 20 gallons, although i'm not sure how that glass compares to 10 gallon tanks. Don't believe I ever did anything with a 10 before. Bottom line is you have two choices...either pay the store a lot of money to do it for you, or pay a store to send you the equipment to do it yourself. Just depends on the route you want to go for it.

Ted---It's not often that I will need that bit, so whenever it happens it happens. I'm hoping to make it to a meeting soon. Speaking of which, when is the next meeting?

next meeting = Steve Pro on the 21st. I wont make it- have a picnic at our house that evening - unless weather says no to picnic and yes to the meeting ......
