Where to get sun corals?

The way prices are going, thats not too bad for the size it is. I remember when I worked at Birds and Beasts, getting in softball size colonies and selling them for $75. He looks very happy.

I would say that $90 is a little high, but that looks like a nice sized colony. I am not sure how much research you have done on these guys, but I relly liked this site http://www.melevsreef.com/suncoral.html I had a colony for a while in a nano and had a hard time feeding it what it wanted while not polluting the tank. It was and still is one of my favorite corals. Good luck with this beautiful specimen.

I did plenty of research on it for a couple days, i probably read at least for 3 or 4 hours. Im having trouble deciding on the feeding, i fed it last night and this morning, in the main tank but i see where it would pollute the tank. I will probably try the feeding hat soon, as of right now i dont have more corals in the tank so im not as worried. Just keeping an eye on my parameters. Other corals will come within a couple weeks though so i need to figure out the best way to do it for me.

Spot feed it with a turkey baster. And gently squeeze the food in it mouth. I have the larger variety the Dendro. And it goes crazy for cyclops. Feeding it once a day is good enough and plenty IMO. I feed mine three time a week and its doing fine.

I plan to feed mine just 3 times a week as well, but im currently using mysis shrimp. It seems they really like it, im using one of those spot feeders(basically an overpriced turkey baster) but i might just go with the dome over the coral, I like the idea of recirculating stuff they dont eat in a confined area so they can get at it.

The method that i found most successful was to put a little food (I used cyclopeeze) in the water. Wait about 15mis or so then all of the polyps were out then hit them with a turkey baster. I would repeat with turkey baster 2-3 times 3 times a week. I found if you feed on a regular interval that you get much better responce.

im lucky because mine seem to open up at lights out, no need to entice them to open. Im really happy with this coral, and look forward to others. I figure that if i can keep this one happy, i should be able to do softies without much hassle. Im going to check my water parameters over the next 2 days and see what the leftovers do. I guess now would be a really good time to get a cleanup crew together, so far all i have in there is a peppermint shrimp.

That is good to hear... I would highly recommend a cleanup crew. They will help with some of the excess.
