Where's the Par Meter Now?

Huhhhhh

Well the board members decided to go ahead and purchase a Par Meter. Russ will be ordering it here shortly and it will be available to SCMAS members to use when needed.

This thread will more than likely become a sticky so members can easily find out where the meter is.

There will probably be a high demand for it at first so everyone will have to wait for their turn. I personally will not need to use it until I replace my lights around income tax return time next year. I will then take a reading on the bulbs I'm running now and then a reading on the new bulbs.

We can also use this thread or create another for members data on what type of bulb and what readings they get from them, maybe in 3 month increments.

If we get this meter before the next meeting, maybe we can demonstrate to everyone in attendance how to use it so that everyones readings will be taken with the same method. This will enable us to set up a database for everyone to use.

I want to compare Larry's solaris with some MH's. That's what I was wondering about last meeting when he demoed it.

Sounds like a demonstration at Cliff's to me

ooooh so I'm off the hook on a pod presentation! he he

I would be interested to see it too. The thing with LED's is the light is focused, so I will contact Pat @ PFO to get directions on how to get a correct PAR reading for the 400w solaris.

Sweet! now we have a good agenda for the meeting, should we have a highest PAR competition? LOL:smokin:

Seriously this thing is going to be very fun.
I also bought a new toy, a hanna phosmeter for testing low range phosphate. I am gonna play with it here but I was thinking about bringing it to Cliffs also. I think if some of you want to bring water samples it would be cool to know what your phos level is with an accurate instrument.

Christo you're not allowed to use it. We can't afford to buy another one after you melt it.:D :D :D

Another great idea... I'd be in for that!

Par meter has been ordered. Hopefully we can get it by the end of the week. It will be a Apogee Model QMSS-Elec.

I asked them to sticky this, but I got it got missed. Once the meter is in and is starting to bounce around, we'll start another thread and have that one as a sticky.

no your not off the hook.

I will bring the phos meter to Cliffs meeting, bring some of your tank water if you want a sample checked. Donations of 80¢ per test will be appreciated, thats what the reagent packet for each test costs me. Make sure to get some clean water with no debris in it and don't take the sample after feeding, try to take it before you feed anything to the tank on Saturday
Sounds like the PAR meter won't be in yet thats a bummer but atleast it has been ordered and is on the way soon.
