Which anemone needs stronger lighting?

The Condy Anemone or a BTA. I know for a fact a Condy Anemone needs strong lighting. But does a BTA require stronger or less. Please feel free to express your opinions.

IME, a BTA would NEED stronger lighting. However, higher lighting is optimal for both species. Condylactis are easily kept under multiple NO bulbs, also, so long as they are fed (which I recommend anyway).

i am pretty sue Condy Anemones need stronger lighting than NO. Could a BTA do well under 220 watts of PC in a 55 towards top of the tank?

1. Not necessarily--I know many people that have kept them (and other species, for that matter) under multiple NO bulbs for very long periods of time.
2. Yes

While I think we all agree that Condy's would not doubt do better under high lighting situations, IME they will do fine under several NO's is and only if they are fed like crazy....I had one in a 25 gallon with the eclipse lid and the lighting was only like 30 watts. I had the condy for bout two years befor I traded it in and in that time it grew from bout 3" to around 8", but I fed it everyday....

Just my .02

Um, BTA's are one of the less light needing species. I had one that hid from MH once. I never saw it again. I have one now under my 260 watts of PC's and it loves it. Once again, BTA's are the least light dependent.

True BTA's may not need the lighting a Ritteri may need, however a Condy just can't be beat in terms of hardiness and light REQUIREMENT...just my .02

They do pack a powerful sting. I have not felt it but I saw it kill a mushroom in a matter of minutes. Mine has not moved for 3 weeks. It found a good spot towards the top of the tank and hasn't moved since and got a lot darker brown. Even though it has plenty of light, I still feed it pretty often to make it grow faster and it has grown about an inch within the 5 weeks I had it. But again, mine has not moved so I am assuming its happy.

I want to get a BTA real bad though but I would also have a Condy. Will they do chemicle warfare? Won't carbon do the trick to remove the chemicles they release? Would you guys think its fine for me to get a BTA even thought I already have a Condy?

since were ony condys, i have a 10g caribbean nano, nothing in it yet, would i be able to keep a condy under proper lighting, my only options are a 28w PC or 40w. id like to keep it with all rics, but give it lots of space

That is to small for a Condy. Condylactis anemones can get uo to 18 inces. But even at 10 inches it would still take up most of the tank.

Liveaquaria is not a good site for judging minimum tank size for their aquatic life. Just make a thread and ask. You will see.

Lol yeah I have personally seen Condy's pushing 13". Even if you could fit it in the tank the bioload would be a bit high....

Though I do wonder if you could in a sense Bonsai it so to speak...any thoughts on that from the experts...I am not saying try it with any other specie than Condy...just a thought...

Clarkii3, if you're really that interested startup a thread but don't take over mine. No to be rude.

Alright so back on topic, do you guys think I could get a BTA with my Condy? Would carbon help?

I wouldn't. Both are prone to moving at some point in time for whatever reason. They are likely to find each other eventually.

condys and bta's both will do good under pc's. both will move around the tank until they finf places they like
