Which Bulb?

From most of the lighting test that I've seen th PAR rating for alot of 14K's is lower than the PAR for 10K's. I use 250W 10K XM's w/ VHO actinic's and can't find anything in the 14K range that comes anywhere close the PAR that these put out. Granted my tank still seems kinda whiter than I was hoping for. I'd like alittle bit of a bluer look but as Brad23 said, Higer K 250W bulbs just aren't bright enough. If my electric bill is going to go up for running 2x250W I'm gunna make absolutely sure I am getting the best PAR ratting I can.

If you can find a 14k 250W MH bulb that puts out as much PAR as the 10K 250w XM's, please let me know about it.

There are no 250 watt DE bulbs that have the par of the XM's from what I have been able to find. I like the color of them as well. I have Phoenix 14k's and Hamilton 14k's and they are too blue for me, I like the growth and color of the 10k's on an ARO electronic ballast. The Phoenix on an HQI ballast was washed out looking and the Hamilton looked good but too blue.

I'll stick with the XM 10k's.

I am probably going to spring for another 175w mh light over my 125 when I get some more grip .. That one will be a 10k for sure...

clark you say that you like the reeflux 12's are they bluer than 10k but not as blue as 14k's? and are there different style de's or are they all universable to fit in any fixture?I know they wont all fire off just any ballast.
