Which corals are safe

I want to ask this just so I can be sure of what I can have in my tank and not kill. Anyways I have the 75g I am about to get running and on top I have 4 54w T5HO. I understand that its not very strong but its what I can afford right now. I know I can keep zoanthids and mushrooms but what else?

Does your fixture have individual reflectors for each bulb? It would also depend on your bulbs. You can keep LPS, they are pretty hardy. That would be the acan's, duncan's, brains, etc... Any SPS would have to be closer to the surface.

You could put SPS in there if they are closer to the light.

I use the 6 bulb ATI Sunpower and can keep SPS healthy on the bottom of my tank. If you go T5 I highly suggest this fixture.

bubble is another stony that likes the shade. Note: if you keep stony, dripping kalk is a good idea: saves a lot of dosing.

You have a lot of options with that lighting scheme. Lighting aside, if you are just starting out, I would stick with more hardy species that tolerate the occasional slip up. Frogspawn, leathers, mushrooms, ricordea, acans, xenia, favia are pretty much good starter corals. I have grown Monti Caps under normal output shop lights and have found them to be as bullet proof as can be.

Once you get your "legs" you could probably introduce some SPS higher in the tank. However, water parameters are going to weigh in as much or more than your light in determining overall success.

Thank you all for the insight. I will be going slow with adding corals and I understand that lighting is only part of what is needed to successfully keep any corals. I really don't know what I will be dosing with yet. I see kalk was mentioned, but I also read good things on some of the two part dosing systems.
