which heater & buble blaster pump?

I am about to place a little order with you & I can't decide on which pump & also which heater to get.

The heater is for a 475g FO & I can't decide which brand & also size heater I need. Any brand better or worse then another manufacturer? I have never gone bigger then 300w, would that be enough or should I get one of the 500+ watt heaters? Finnex, jbj, ehaim-jager or one of the other brands, does it matter which one? I think it's jbj that states their 500w is only good for 100-160g tank. That can't be accurate?

Also, from what I read the bubbleblaster 5000 pump is quiet. I will put the pump on a old 12-2 ER body, any idea if that pump is OK to replace the old genx-4000's (I do not want the noise of sendra's either). Do you think this pump would be enough for a 12x30 skimmer or should I go with the larger b.b 7000 or 2 5000's or smaller pumps? Neck on the skimmer is under 5inches I believe, it's probably 8 or so year old skimmer.

THe more I search the more I think I should just sell the ER & get a SRO XP-3000

is that OK for a 210g FO or should I go bigger or smaller?

probably have a medium bioload

If you don't mind going with a glass heater I recommend the Hydor Theo or Eheim-Jager. Those are the two most reliable heater brands on the market, including glass and titanium. If you want to go titanium, then check out the JBJ Tru-Temp's. They have been really good so far, but we haven't had them all that long yet either.

Does your 12-2 have the old small neck, or the later neck they used which was much larger? If it's the old, small neck, then you would definitely be fine with the BB5000. If it has the larger neck then I would say the skimmer could handle two of the BB5000 pumps.

It's the small neck, under 5in diameter. I think it was made in 2002 or 2003

Do you think the xp-3000 would outperform my 12-2 with a single bubbleblaster 5000? or should I buy the $200 +/- pump & keep the old ER. on a 210g FO

glass heaters are fine, still using the old ebo-jagers......

ordered the stuff today, thanks again for your help & info

went the bb-5000 route vs buying a new skimmer

Well..... everything arrived yesterday (minus a icecap 250w MH ballast) & the bubble blaster pump is the only issue. I left a message with Michelle (I think that's who I talked to earlier in the week) due to her stating the bb-5000 NW pumps were out of stock except for one with no box. I though everything else was included except the box so I said that is fine. As it turns out there were no mounting feet with it so I left a message about returning it & just wait for a new one to come in with a box & all the goodies.

Also, any idea on what to do to connect one of these pumps in RC mode? The venture thingy doesn't seem to line up with any PVC so I am not sure how or what size stuff I need to connect to it. I can just plug the holes in my skimmer & let the pump (when I get a new one) suck from the sump but I wanted to run it in RC

thanks

Hi,

Sorry about the issue with the feet. Did Michelle get this taken care of for you yet?

As far as running it recirc, you would have to built your own venturi to do so, as the one supplied is not meant to be ran that way.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Just made it back home from a short vacation/take the RV to get warrante stuff done 500 miles away trip

Anyways, Michelle has talked to me a few times & she sent me out what she thought was needed to get it working. Unfortunantly the disconnect that attatches to the exit on the pump has threads that do not work & there is no base to mount the little feet onto. She cut me a deal on the pump since it didn't come with a box so I am going to return it & try to find something else.

Do you have any idea when these pumps will be in stock & also IceCap 250w MH ballast?
