Which one works for you?

I only have approximately 120 - 130 pounds of live rock in my 150 gallon sps tank. I've found that the additional water volume between my 35 gallon sump and larger than average display volume is easier to manage than a smaller water volume occupied by larger amounts of rock.

Just wondering what the consensus is on water volume to rock ratio among sps keepers.

Sorry, let me repharase.....

If you had to choose between a larger water volume with less rock or a tank with more than one pound of rock per gallon which would you prefer for an sps setup?

there is really no right answer, the old ratios for amount of rock/gallon are not really used much these days. Just use as much or as little rock as you want base on how you want the tank to look. You'll want to arrange so that you have plenty of room/places to put corals; but i'd assume you'd also want plenty of room for fish to swim and such.
