Which Other Tangs Can I Keep To Avoid Tang Warfare

Why no Powder Blue with and Achilles? A few years ago I kept an achilles, powder blue, yellow, kole and sailfin in my 125 with very minimal problems. I know that I should be under arrest from the tang police but hey I was young.
If you still had the same mix of tangs now that you had a "few years ago", you might be able to make a judgement as to the appropriateness of that stocking level. Problems do not always happen overnight, they develop as the tangs mature.
As to the original poster, I would not add the purple tang with another zebrasoma sp. I certainly would not add a Naso.
Regarding the Achilles, you might read the primer for Achilles to see what experiences others have had.

Tank had to go back to the builder, during my own stress tests one of the overflows had a leak. I patched it, but thought that wasn't the right way of doing it.
He's redoing the overflows with thicker acrylic, should have it back in around 7 to 10 days.
The purple is hanging out in his 40 gallon QT, the other livestock is in a 55.
Seems like it's taking forever... but I think it needs to be done right.
I'm going to put some rock/pest cleaners into a 55 QT once everythings up and running and moved over. Wrasse/CBB ... and after the tank is more established (Hopefully 250+ lbs of 5 year old live rock will help), probably only get the Achilles.

I agree. You may have serious problems with the yellow & Purple; no matter when you add them. Tangs of the Zebrasoma genus often hate each other, especially when they are only two of them. Its common to see groups of 3+ Zebrasoma Tangs, but seldom just two. There just aren't any "rules' with Tang compatibility, IMO & IME. It always seems to be an 'individual fish" thing. Tang behavior really changes as fish mature and develop a pecking order. If they are at all crowded, I think this increases tension. Plan for mature tangs, not just what works tomorrow.
