I go to SHO TANK Matt is an honest guy.
The quality is very good. His store should be twice as big.
Dave

I saw Matt last Wednesday, another great visit, came home with a beautiful powder blue tang and a 5" squamie. The way he keeps systems, everything is healthy, you're right Dave, wish his store was bigger.

reefdwellers

reefdwellwers is on north Lincoln ..about 5300-5500 the phone number is 773-271-8887 call first and ask menard for what you want. He may have to bring it from his home tank.

Hi all, I work at the petland in Naperville. I think I am the only one who knows about reefcentral. I am the guy who works 6 hours a week 9-3 on sunday. I don't want to get in trouble w/ commercial posts but from my experience it has good quality but High$. If you go there don't expect someone to frag something for you.
But mike and paul do know their stuff.

Bad work habbits. A little out dated on equipment too (still think pc's is second best, and you neeeed wet/dry). I apologize about it taking 30 mins to get help, Those damn dogs! Everyone must see them all! (if you need help, come up front and ask)

I rarly shop there. IMO a splash of life is a way better store. Awsome quality & awsome prices.

Sho Tank up in Mundelein...... In reading up on it, it seems that when it opened it was a great store with awesome selection and even better prices, but recently I have been hearing less spectacular things about it..... Not sure, I have not had time to get up there and see for myself! (It's a trip from Lombard!)

Where's Sho Tank?

Where's Sho Tank?

Where's Sho Tank? Sho Tank has the best prices by far, been to most of the shops listed and there fish prices are offensive, Sho Tank beats most prices by half. It truly amazes what these stores charge and the puzzling part is I have I actually witness people paying those prices. If Mundelin is too far to travel, go online (windowtothesea.com or saltwaterfish.com or fishsupply.com) see what they charge, look at what these Pet Shop charge and you will understand what I am I mean. Its a small place compared to most of these places but you will not be disappointed.

I have pretty much had similar experiences to everyone on this board. It seems that all of the storefronts are really overpriced, but for a few exceptions (Menard being one of them). What do you guys think the primary reason is for this? Is it greed or is it just very expensive to run a store front.

I have seen some despicable things. For example, at one store which will remain nameless, an employee was showing an older couple around who were clearly newbs. The employee basically tried to entice them into to buying some dying, overpriced carnation coral. The only reasoning behind something like that to me at least is pure greed. That is a very difficult coral to keep even if it was healthy.

So what's the deal, do you guys think its just greed or is it just expensive to have a storefront?
