Which Phuket Liveaboard

My wife and I are planning to do a 3-4 day liveaboard in Phuket. Ideally go towards the Similans.

This is our first liveaboard, and we (obviously) want something comfortable / luxuorious, with good service and safety. It seems like the best boats only do the 5-7 day or longer trips.

Anyone have any suggestions? We are going in February.

I dont have any direct recommendations but the current issue of Scuba Diving magazine, the november one i believe, has a big section about live aboards in thailand. I read it earlier today as a matter of fact, it was mainly a first hand experience of a live aboard that left phuket. Idk if this helps but it may give you more information and you can also visit the magazines web site, www.scubadiving.com to possibly find more information and live aboard ratings

hope this helps

If you want a first rate boat, get on board the Ocean Rover. You'll get to dive the Similan Islands and Andaman Sea. But, they run 7-10 day trips. This is one of the best live aboards that I've been lucky enough to dive from. The Thai crew is fabulous, the boat is modern, safe and luxurious and the owner, Jerome, goes above and beyond for his customers.

Another good source of information for you is Undercurrent Magazine. They also have a website that you can sign up for and get reviews.

Enjoy Thailand.. it is a beautiful country full of wonderful people.
