Which Radions for this footprint?

I'm having a very hard time deciding on which Radions to buy and keep going back and forth on my decision. My tank is 32"L x 24"W x 20"T. This will be a SPS tank. Should I go with one XR30w Pro Gen 4 centered in the middle or two XR15s Pro Gen 4 offset? Or do I need even more than that? The tank is brand new and I plan to grow everything from frags, so will be awhile before I have any colonies. Also take into consideration that my aquascape is fairly small, it is 27" x 13" and I plan to keep the and clean free of coral.

i have 2 g415s and 4 t5s over a 24x24x20

Good to hear from someone with close to the same size tank. Do you think that 2 of those XR15 G4's you have adequately cover my tank? How is the front to back coverage 24" with just your LEDs on?

I have two gen 3 XR15 over my 36x24x24 and I am hoping that they will be enough, the tank is new and I will run with the wide angle lenses on the SPSpx14 or the AB+ settings at 100%. Unfortunately it may be a long time before I can give a definitive answer, The answers on here are making me worried!

How does the coverage look so far? I'd imagine that 3 would be plenty for your 36x24x24.

Two XR-15s won't cut it for SPS. I tried ran that way for 2+ years on my 40x24 tank. Two XR-30s would be the way to go.

Regarding the T5 supplementation, you really can't go wrong there. It just didn't work on my rimless so I switched completely to T5.

I think the G4 XR15s cover 18"x18" so I see why it wouldn't cut it for a 40" tank. How did they cover the 24" part of your tank? I'm thinking maybe I could start with one xr30 pro G4 and run it horizontal and then as my frags get larger then get a 2nd xr30 pro and run then both vertical. With the pros though, that may be overkill. Ouch, $1600 is a lot on lights for a smaller tank.

My SPS would grow, but VERY slowly. Someone on this site once said that as a general rule, for sps double the manufactures suggestion. If they suggest two XR15s go with two XR30s. And yeah, $1600 is why I didn't try that experiment. Don't get me wrong, if you have the cash, Radions are super nice lights and extremely configurable. I think corals under Radion LED look better than under T5 as well.

That said, as an example I've had an Oregon Tort for two years. About 1.5 months ago I switched to T5 and in that time it has doubled in size. I'm also getting colors from my pink lemonade and other sps which I've never seen under my radions.

Have you looked at the Kessil AP700, your footprint is ideal for a single fixture.

If you are set on Radions then two XR15 G4 is the better option. This way you can separate the points of light further out for better coverage. Though I still prefer the Kessil.

You're pre-buying like six years worth of T5 bulbs for inferior results IMO

I wouldn't say that. I would say it's a poor way to budget $1600. Way too much, two XR15s so you can space them out further apart. Mounted high enough you will get the spread you need. They have more than adequate power for that tank.
