Which salt mix to get?

I need salt to mix 125 gallons of water. In that tank I plan on only keeping fish with maybe some live rock. No corals or invertebrates. Any suggestions to what kind of salt mix I should get for a tank like this? I am just looking for something that has it all, buffers, no nitrates or any of that harmful stuff, and whatever else that will help the tank out. Thanks.

I use IO also... been using it for years with no issues, and I have a 125 full of coral.

Most all salt out there is good though..., take your pick.

Tropic marin pro is good but very expensive; so i have recently switched to Instant ocean because it seems most people use this one. Nearly all salt mixes have those who like them and those who dislike them for some reason.

I'd go with whatever namebrand salt mix that's on sale. Instant Ocean is generally the cheapest choice, and it's a good salt. Tropic Marin, Red Sea, Oceanic, Kent and Seachem are also all quality salt mixes, though many of them tend to be geared more towards a reef tank and will often cost a little bit more.

i use tropic marin pro

If you don't use a calcium reactor, there is no reason to use pro as it is engineered for use with one.

If your going to go FOWLR then there is no reason to pay premium for salt. IO is cheap and plenty fine for fish only

As I just mentioned in anoyther thread, I do not believe that makes any sense at all, aside from a marketing gimmmick for Tropic Marin to try to distinguish their different salts.

There is nothing special that I can see about using a reactor (over using limewater, a two part, etc) which would want the water to have more calcium, more magnesium, and less alkalinity, as the Pro does relative to the standard Tropic Marin salt.

I use reef crystals but I honestly think it is a personal preference thing. See what good brands you have access to, be it locally or online, and get the one that is cheapest. That is laregely the reason I currently use reef crystals.
