Which salt?

A little of this and a little of that with even less of another :)

Way to be specific!:lol:

Several of the more well known reefers in the area have taken to mixing several different brands of salt in order to get the best quality, most consistent salt(at least that's why I believe their doing it). I think there's a business to be had in buying salt in bulk, mixing several brands, repackaging and re-selling! Who cares if one company has a bad batch, as it'll have little impact on the mix. Anyone got a clean cement mixer and extra storage space for pallets of salt?:D

I have 6 buckets in my check out cart asd we speak and that doesn't even include the tunze or D&D, both of what I want to try.

6 buckets of what, a mix? Jar*Head got his Tunze salt and will soon test it to see where it stands. Not so patiently waiting on the results as I need more salt soon anyhow. Other than that, I'm leaning towards a Seachem/RC mix.

Well Ive been using oceanic myself and am very pleased with the results thus far. Seems to always have nice Ca levels for me this far. Just picked up some Seachem reef and will give it a shot, been hearing some good things

If anyone uses IO i know AL sells the bucket for $43. Seems like a good deal to me about the same you can get it at Drsfoster shipped. So support local:)

I used the seachem reef salt for a whole bag until I realized it was my salt that was causing really low mg and alk levels. I never tested mg out of the bag, but it was like 800 in my tank and alk out of the bag was only 6. Needless to say I use reef crystals now. Found out that the Instant Ocean is a huge company that uses larger batches and higher QC standards. Seachem is still relatively small.

Not to say don't buy local, but I just added 5 buckets in my cart
@ $31.99 each
And shipping is $13.99

Total = $173.94 / 5 buckets = $34.79 each
So that's a diff of $8.21 per bucket x 5

=$41.05 SAVINGS

And that $43 AL does not take into account tax on the price.

I'd rather take that $41 savings, and go buy coral at a LFS, and then I have both items for the same price, and I supported the LFS too.
