Which sea salt do you use?

Well thinking of trying another salt even though the if it ain't broke don't fix it rule is sounding off in my head..I use Reef Crystals salt and have had no issues ..but wonder what you guys use with your sps? What are your thoughts on NeoMarine and Red Sea ,Coral life and SeaChem Salts have you tried any of those I see there is a free shipping deal going on and would like to test another sea salt with my new sps or maybe just stock enough salt for a year or so.

None of the above. D+D H2Ocean is the only salt I'll ever use. I couldn't keep my Alk up with anything else.

Tested from freshly made water:
Ca 430
Alk 9.6
Mg 1380

Can't go wrong with that...

I was using Tropic Marine Pro, however I got two boxes with alk 4.5dKH. Now I just got bucked of Red Sea Pro.

I have used them all pretty much. I have low mag issues with H2Ocean I was getting 1100 mag. I loved RC until I got 3 buckets in a row that mixed up super brown. IO is good and low cost. In a nut shell all salts work just fine. Find one that suites your needs.

None of the above...... I use Seachem salinity salt. All of the levels match up to whats advertised and I don't plan on switching.

If by 35ppt you mean my salinity being at 1.025 then yes. I'm on my second bucket of the stuff and so far it's been extremely consistant.

I started using H2Ocean because even with daily dosing I was having trouble keeping my Alk over 7.0. So Dave the owner of Vivid Aquariums promised me that if I made the switch my problems would be solved and sure enough for well over 8 months now my Alk stays fairly consistant around 9.3-9.6.

This is just my experience with it. I haven't used a huge array of salts but it's the first one to test at the parameters I'm going for.

you can double check with chemistry forums and Randy, but RC salt, comes with vitamines, which will cause brown algae if its not all taken up by corals at the time of water change.

makes no sense to me if u asked me .... I rather a clean salt, and then if I see the need I will dose vitamines ...

that's why I only use IO for other tanks.

Makes sense, since I haven't ever seen GHA, or Brown algae, an this other Wierd algae I can't identify.I am about to call it quits with Reef Crystals, and go to Red Sea Coral Pro, or Tropic Marin Pro Ref, or Oceanic.Im sick of this algae.

Oh I should have added that I used Red Sea Coral Pro and liked it but want to try normal Red Sea because ca and alk are a little higher than I like in the Coral Pro. HW Reefer and HW Marine Mix are great salts but hard to find For most people. I have pretty much sworn off all "reef salts" because I just dont see a need for a mix with alk and ca so high, some are 14 dkh and 500ppm. Dosing ca and alk takes care of the demands and you need to dose with "reef salts" too so I save $30 on a bucket of salt and get a $5 container of kalk that lasts for a month or 2. The other thing is my tanks runs at 8-9 dkh and 460ppm ca so I dont want to do a water change with a salt mix that has a alk of 14, stability after all is key.

ESV ... Very consistent/ clean mix, can use immediately if necessary, 200g box makes 200g at 1.026 (unlike many salts that 200g box makes ~180g at 1.026)

I use reef crystals and have not had any issues with algae or colored water. I just tried Kent on two new tanks I set up and it took forever to dissolve and was so yellow it looked liked I peed in the tank. I'm still trying to clear up the 90 gal but carbon does not seem to be doing it.
