Which skimmer for 120g

Hello All! Got a skimmer question. I have around 120g total volume, mixed but more sps, will end up a medium to heavy stock tank. Looking for a good in sump skimmer in the $300 to $400 range. I am leaning toward the:

SWC Xtreme 180 cone
Seaside Aquatics CS2
Skimz SK201
SRO 2000

It seems like the better pumps are in the CS2, SWC, and SRO 2000 and the price is better, I prefer a cone skimmer I had a ATB medium years ago and it was the best skimmer i have seen. The SWC is only a little more $ and pulls more air so it seems like a better setup but the SRO 2000 looks good too.

Which one is the best quality and bang for buck. Any recommendations?

cant go wrong with reef octopus. might want to look into reef octopus diablo skimmer as well. its their newest skimmer model. i wouldnt look into the swc since i heard people are having restart issues and need to blow into the pump to get it started again. your best bet is Reef Octopus for skimmers.

Thanks I will looks for the diablo ones. I thought the Sicce pumps on the swc were supposed to be good quality.

Go for a Bekkett skimmer, they kick butt and go cheap. HSA, Precision Marine and couple others too look at.

I have an Octopus Extreme 160 with a Sicce pump, and I usually have to blow into the air line to get it going again once I shut it down. Other than that, it's a great skimmer. If I had to get a new skimmer I would definitely get another Octopus, but I would get one with a different pump (maybe a Bubble Blaster?).

I would go reef octopus. I currently use an SRO-1000 and will be using a SRO-3000 for my next tank. I have never had any issues! Plus a 3 year warranty on the pump.

Yeah he's confused with the SWC 160 which has an Atman pump which some people have issues with, mine has been fine however.

yea my apologies hes right. but when i was in your shoes i was comparing the swc line up and the reef octopus line up and decided to go with reef octopus since they are better quality then swc IMO. i got my xs160 an couldnt be happier. in all my future tanks i will only go with reef octopus skimmers just because im so pleased with this one. very good quality!

Yeah no thanks on the beckett. So again the SRO or SWC are the best choices. So on the pumps is the Bubbleblaster on the SRO better than the Sicce?

Absolutely.

I use the SRO 1000 & 2000. The 2000 is on a 110g and works excellent!

Does the SRO skimmers have a weld line down the side of the cone? Also on the SRO units I see they have a neck cleaner device for them, does the collection cup on them have a drain? I didn't see one in the pics?

No weld seam. Yes, there is a drain on the collection cup You can see that HERE
