whats your budget

my choices would be

seaside aquatics CS2 w/ new psk1000
Octo SX200
or SRO 3000 internal

the pump and transition

sedras don't have the best rep. they also are bigger and generate more heat.

the new psk's are very well reviewed.

don't get me wrong, the ASM will work but the CS2 is a better option IMO.

If your skeptical then ask some of the other reefers with alot of skimmer experience like Mojo on the skimmer Q&A thread or GSMguy.

I have a tunze 9011 on my 135 holding 7 tangs, 5 clowns, blennies, scooters, a bunch of crabs, hermits, shrimp, snails, sps, lps, zoo's and 2 nems and it does the trick for me... was running 2 hydor slim skims before and was having MANY issue's... switched to the 9011 and not one issue since (6 months now!)

+2 for Seaside Aquatics...been running one for a couple weeks now. Super quite and has crazy foam.

+1 Dont forget noisy! I went from a Reef Mania skimmer with dual Sedra 5000s (only used one) to the Reef Octopus with the OTP 3000, huge difference in noise and functioning.

The Sea side is really nice. It is super quiet and runs great. Nicely balanced skimmer. Really similar to an ATB 840 with the pump internal. The new psk pumps are more efficient and pull a good amount of water and air. The sedra pumps worked well but did lack on air draw for the amount of current they pull. The sea side and the JNS sk2 would be my choices if it were my money. Both use same pump. the shark pump is a sicce pump. Just different sticker really. Enjoy

Mojo~
