which species lives closest to a reef environment?

Subject says it all.

My tank will have a lot of live rock and some sand area where I could plant real or artificial grasses but which species if any will be most comfortable with the rock?

The rock is set up to form a great natural refugium for pods and should provide a decent source of food once populated. Plus I plan to keep some corals.

Also, any recommendations for grasses, mangos or whatever....live or otherwise?

any seahorse will appreciate rock (hitching posts, hiding spots, food...).

Yep, I know that. I am wondering if there is a particular species which normally hangs around reefs or are they all primarily grass dwellers.

Reidi, barbouri, kuda, and comes, have all been documented on reefs and our available in the hobby. Other seahorses will adapt fairly easily.

If your purchasing from a CB source, the seahorse will have never seen the"reef" or "grassland" anyhoo.

sorry, i was a bit confused because all you said was "which species if any will be more comfortable with the rock". Pledo's right though, if your going CB it wont matter, i doubt its a trait that is just in those species that they would have no matter what.

Wasnt ingens more of a rock reef / coral hard bottom habitat dweller too Pledo? I seem to rememeber reading that. (Not that they're very available.)

I left them off the list since there not available. There are others also, but none that are available to U.S. consumers.
