My LFS is having a sale on aquariums. Im going to be doing an all SPS tank. Ive been looking at the 150 DD which is 36"x36" and the 200 thats 48"x36". I had a 180 for a while and was going to get a new one and get it pre-drilled but now Im thinking about going with the double deep one. If you had to pick which one would you go with, 150 DD,180 standard or 200 DD? My biggest thing with the DD one is flow, but I do have 2 MP60's. Im planning on ordering it today but wanted some input! Thanks!

if you can light up and provide flow for the 200, why go any smaller ?

usually ppl have limitatins on budget, or space, if you dont, then 300 DD.

:)

IMHO, the 180 standard shouldn't even be in consideration with the other 2 tanks. I vote for the 200 DD also. I personally like the look and aquascaping variations of a retangular tank over a cube.

Hate to sound newbish- but what does DD stand for? IMHO 36 by 48 would give amazing depth, but what is the height? Is that what DD stands for? short for a set height?

So I went to order my tank and I was thinking.... I want to build a taller stand. Maybe I should measure the door opening! Well crap! The tank isn't going to fit in my room! Back to the old 180! Lol

How wide is your door opening? My doors are only 30" and we still fit a 72x36x28 thru them. Just had to flip the tank when bringing it in. If you are building the stand you will have to build it in the room that your are going to set the tank up in.

yeah cleaning is another issue. sometimes I feel like I should be wearing a safety harness when I am on my ladder leaning into the tank.

Good luck with your build.

200 all day but it will take more to run such as flow, lighting, heating, and chilling than the 150 just something to think about.

Go with the 200DD, bigger is better if you have the money to setup a large reef tank. I love large DD tanks.
