which tunze silence?

Hey, i've got a standard 5.5g tank I want to put on my desk and plumb to a sump underneath the desk. We're talking about roughly 4 feet of height to the top of the tank...maybe a bit less...I'm not in front of it to measure right now.

I don't want or need high flow. Low flow is fine. Display flow will be handled in another way. What kind of flow will I see with the smaller silence pumps?

I'm considering the 1073.008 right now...hoping it will put out some small amount of water at that height. Can I get 50-100gph??? Are there other better options...it's a small secondary tank I'm trying to be economical.

At 4ft a 1073.008 would be just about 5-10 gph and if that is 4ft with an elbow, it is really 5ft, each elbow adds a foot. The 1073.020 will do about 200gph at 4ft and would be the better choice.

Thanks, and I had not included any elbows but I was planning to come up and over the bank of the tank.

What kind of flow should I expect from the 1073.008 if I elevated the sump by about a foot? This might actually make it easier to do water changes as I could drill the sump for a manual drain plug/spigot. thanks

The max head on the 1073.080 is 49" at that point the flow is zero, it is a very small pump, basically like a MaxiJet 900 in flow and size. I think you need the 1073.020, I would not expect more than about 10 gph even at 3ft with one elbow, every 90 is equal to 1ft of head pressure as a rule of thumb.

Ok, thanks...will look at the 1073.020 then. What size plumbing should I plan to use? Does it prefer 3/4" tubing or something else for best efficiency? I notice it seems to work with two different hose barb outputs.

The nipples are stair stepped as shown-

You can use 3/4 or 5/8" tubing or 16mm or 22mm metric tubing. If you wanted to get fancy we have silicon tubing in 22mm which is nice as it is so durable and pliable, but it is also expensive and standard vinyl tubing works fine, you just have to replace it every couple years since it tends to loose the elasticity and get kinked and no longer fit securely as it stretches at the fittings.
