Hey rc
I am looking for wrasse for my macro algae DT tank, it Needs to be compatible with my shrimp and other fish. Im am adding 2 clowns, 2 cardinals, 1 Chalk bass and at some point maybe one purple firefish. I would like a wrasse that leaves the sandbed alone, is it possible to find such wrasse?
Have a wunderfull day :p

I has a whip fin and it was a nice well behaved fish but I have heard they can be aggressive. Mine wasn't much of a looker in all honesty. It would flash like you see in the pictures occasionally but look very drab most of the time.
As you are adding a more timid species like the firefish I would look at the Mccoskers, filament, yellow fin and carpenters flasher wrasse to see if they fit what your wanting. A wetmorella or pink streaked wrasse might also make an interesting addition. They are both very peaceful and reef safe.

+1... But my whip fin was aggressive towards new additions...will not ever have one again

Whipfins are pretty nasty.

Any fairy or flasher wrasse wille leave the sandbed alone, as will Wetmorella species and Pseudcheilinops ataenia. Pseudocheilinus species leave the sandbed alone too, but also have a tendency to get nasty toeard tankmates.

Tanks :)
Is there a specific wrasse that would fit in a macro algae community tank? The tank is 55 gallon, so it has to be a small one

Any of the ones I mentioned above will fit nicely, the flashers will swim more in the water column and the wetmorella and pink streak more through the rock and algae. You could have a mixture of them or decide on out, colourful and flashy or more cryptic, subtle and interesting.
