White aquarium stands

Here's mine when it was almost done. Wiring has been run inside light hanger and another coat of paint on doors.

My eyes go to whatever is lightest first. So, when I see a white stand, it's "nice stand......oh, there's a tank on it, too." You don't want that. When I see a black stand, my eye is attracted to the lighting in the tank first: "Nice tank..........good job on the stand, too."

Maybe I'm just weird like that.

No, that is the norm from what we are taught in design or photography, what the eye draws too, brightest or lightest color first.
I purposely do not overly highlight the cabinet for that reason, which is easier when doing stain for me, but sometimes we have to tie into existing decor and that often calls for white.
Just gotta make the tank really pop w/ color.

The one you posted is different, though. It just looks like part of the wall, so you don't give it a whole lot of extra thought. I'd never have guessed that it wasn't part of the wall. On the other hand, I look at that one in post #8 and I go, "Wow, look at those huge, clean, expansive white walls.................oh, look, a fish tank."

I see some incredibly ornate, elaborate woodwork sometimes on these stands, and I really admire the craftsmanship, but then I wonder why they did that, because to me a stand should complement the tank. The tank should be the focal point, not the afterthought.

^^ I'm speaking for others when I say that.
My pic was just one example of a white cabinet done simply that most anyone can do, and it was the decision of the client and his wife to match their modern decor.
Believe me, when you see what he did w/ it and w/ the lights your eyes go to the tank.

I think this is a pretty good example of the fact that even though the cabinet is white, good lighting draws your eye to the tank first.(Looks clean by the way!)
I think we should also consider since OP asked to see white cabinets, most pics are going to be what highlights the cabinet more than the tank for the purpose of giving OP cabinet ideas.

What I was trying to say was that you camouflaged it so well that, even though it was still a light color, it looks more like part of the wall than a piece of furniture sitting in the room, so it does not take anything away from the tank.

That was some kick-butt finish carpentry you guys did. Beveled corners? GTFO.
