White aquarium stands

I'd like to know how people that have painted their stand white, do you like that or would you do it differently. Posted pics would be awesome as well. I'm thinking of going white on my build but haven't fully decided yet. In pictures, the water and colors seem to contrast better than wood stained stands.

White stands look cleaner but I think black stands make the colors pop out better. I have thought about going black. Just my opinion.

Depends on the look you're looking for. My stand is white to match my kitchen cabinets, if the cabinets were stained my stand would be stained. A little color coordination kept the wife happy...

I went white with my build... I have while walls that this is going on, and it will blend in well.

I have seen peninsula tanks on what essentially was a white stand, (really an extension of the wall. It looked really nice. I have a black high gloss pedestle stand for my 12gal nano, and an oak stand for my larger display... both look nice by themselves, but of course are on opposite ends of the room. I dont think you can have enough black furnishings.

Every once in a while I see a white stand on here and they always look great. Just seems to make the water look so much more blue. We have stained trim in our house, but whenever I get to that point it will be replaced with painted white trim. Also, for those with white stands, did you go with a coat of gloss or flat poly?

Nice looking tanks! I'm no carpenter, but I hope if I take my time I can build a stand that comes out nice for my 135. I like the understairs bar worked into the house and the use of an AGA stand that looks a whole lot better now.

I did this custom buil a couple months ago for a client who was looking for something to blend in...kinda hard to do for the size system it is (120gal and 56 gal plumbed together in same sump).

Sorry the pics are so small. I can't figure out how to make them bigger while still keeping the image size un the 50KB.

Hello,

I had my old stand painted in natural colour of the wood with a transparent finish so that the original brown of the wood remains.

But the new one is painted in white as this was the wish of the responsible people (my tank is in our old peoples home).
I was not happy in the beginning about this idea but I must say now that it came out looking great and I would do it again.

You can see more pictures of my new tank in my thread
My 253 Gallon Tank - In Our Old People´s Home

but here the old one:

and some of the new one showing the stand:
unfortunately the white does not come out in the pictures as it is due to suurounding light and reflections (and the main issue was to get the colours of the tank itself as good as possible)

I made my white stand out of white wainscot panels. The stuff that I used I got from Home Depot and it is prefinished vinyl. I also used vinyl trim. It probably doesn't look as nice as some of the other stands I see on here, but it is very convenient. It is very easy to work with and cleans up easily.

RedEDGE2k1, Nice!!!
I intend to do a similar wall unit where mine sits. Just need more time than I have...

I just built my own stand and canopy. I went white to match the trim in my dining room. I was always partial to the natural wood color. I'm glad I went white with a black background, I absolutly love it.

Not a whole shot of the stand, but this after I changed over:
