White Balance and the P80

I know guys but this nikon works great for all my needs.
I do have one problem though.
When I adjust the white balance and take shots of my tank the blue is almost completely taken from the coral colors.
How can I adjust this?
Can it be done on the camera with settings?
On this camera the white balance is availabel in "P,A and M" modes. For the tank I am almost always in "M" mode with ISO of either auto or 400.
Don't get me wrong I get great shots but would love to show off my blue hued acros.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I'm going to assume you meant nikon D80. The easiest thing to do is to shoot in RAW and convert the white balance when you post process the pictures.

You can also try shooting with a custom white balance, I shoot Canon so I can't give you the specific procedures but your camera manual should list the steps you need to take. The basic idea is you shoot a white or light grey target under the lighting conditions you are trying to adjust for and the camera will use it as a reference for what settings should be used.

Actually it is the nikon and it is the P80 not D80.
Your instructions are exactly what the manual says for me to do.
I've been using a white surface to measure. Maybe I should try a light gray surface.
I don't know what you mean shot in RAW mode and convert the white balance when I post process the pics. I don't think I have a RAW mode.

My apologies, I wasn't familiar with the P80. I just looked up the manual and it doesn't look like you have an option for RAW so your best bet is to do as you've been doing and use a custom white balance then adjust it (if necessary) in post processing.

Hey no need for apologies.
I guess I am really dumb but what is post processing?

I do appreciate your responses!

Post processing is editing your pictures on the computer. Some people refer to it as "photoshopping", but it doesn't have to be quite that elaborate. Did your camera come with any kind of editing software? If so, does it have an option to edit white balance?
