I have a 20gl quarantine tank that has had a chainlink moray eel in it for 90 days. He's been eating well and growing fast. Because of his ability to escape, I have not been able to move him to my main system which lacks proper security.
The QT tank is 1.025 SG with no measurable ammonia or nitrates. Frequent water changes keep nitrates at 10ppm or less.
3 weeks ago I acquired a Naso Tang and added him, after a freshwater dip, into QT with the chainlink. In 5 days the tang showed white patches on his sides. Within 48 hours he died. I took the attached pic to my local LFS, their prognosis was a fungus.
About a week ago, the chainlink stopped eating. Finally got him to swallow some squid, but he regurgitated it within 6 hours. Couple days later he ate shrimp, regurgitated that as well. Yesterday morning, he ate shrimp again, he finally seems to have digested it. This evening he was out & about, I noticed white white patch towards his tail, similar to what the tang had but about 1.5" long and thin.
Aside from his eating, his behavior is normal.
I have been unable to find conclusive identification or a possible remedy.
Thoughts /suggestions are greatly appreciated.
