White scar(?) on Coral Beauty

I really don't know what to call this, the best picture I have so far is the one above.

It's not just a color change, it's "3D". Fairly thick in fact.

My first thought it that he hurt himself (or was attacked) in the LFS. Everywhere else looks good, its two places on the right side of his face.

Does anyone know what that might be caused by? I'll try again for better pictures tonight.

Did he have some aggressive tankmates? It looks like his tail is also nipped in 3 places?

lymphocystis?
I was just reading about Lymphosistis, and I think your right.

I just picked him up from a LFS a couple days ago - I did not quarantine - though I know I should have.

The tank he was in just had him and a LMB - but for all I know he could have had aggressive tank mates 10 seconds before I walked in the store.

None of the fish in my tank are picking at him, but I'll keep a close watch and setup a quarantine tank if anyone starts to pick on him.

He is eating and as far as I can tell is happy and healthy other than the lymphocystis.

Assuming it is Lymphosistis - and assuming that he is happy and stress free in my aquarium - what time frame should it take for the lumps to go away?

A couple days?
A couple weeks?
A couple months?

Thank you!

It depends on the fish's immune system. It can go away fast or take awhile. Just keep him well fed with a varied diet, stress free, and it should go away. It just has to fight it off on it's own so it's not something you can really put a time frame on.

Update: The smaller spot is completely gone, and the large one on her "chin" has shrunk to about half as big as it was.

It's good to see things improving so much :)

Thanks for the information everyone.
