white slime on my monti's

i think i got my first bad critters in the tank, but not sure. the only recent addingtion in the last 3 months was a few crabs and shrimp friday.

i have 2 pink encrusting monties in two different parts of the tank. about a week ago (before friday) the one on the rith looked like it had some white slimey spots. i thought nothing of it as i have heard the stuff can happen dosing vodka.

last night i noticed the same stuff on the other about 3' away. it was not affecting any other corals even the monti caps a few inches away. oh crap i says. up close it looks like a white cobweb with white dots (eggs??) in it. i tried to blow it off last night and it was back this am worse than ever.

the piece that has had it for a week hase some minor bleaching and tissue recession on one end. i removed both piece and dipped then this morning

Bart, I got your Text but can not see what your talking about and from the description i have no idea. May be that one of the new additions had a clutch of eggs to lay? Could be harmless or not just don't know.
Best thing would be to isolate it if possible to see what happens when and if they hatch.

That's very clear, To me it looks like some kind of fungus on the coral. Have you dipped them in Revive/CoralRX for bugs? If not i would try that and see if it helps. I still think it may be some kind of critter has laid eggs and that may be a mucus layer to protect them, But that is just me guessing.
Wish i could be of more help but i have never came across anything like that.

i dipped in coral pure coral dip by WM a few times. is that the same as coral rx? some one in the SPS forum posted it might be mesenterial filaments. i am going to look that up. never heard of it.

Is that an Iodine base dip or one that smells like Pine Sol CoralRX is like Pine Sol. I never heard of that other guess either but that don't mean it ain't so!

I hope you'll find the problem!!! I spaced out today doing tons of running here and there...forgot you were coming up this way.....lol I was at BestBuy getting Christmas gift when I realize I lost my money bag, I was freakin' out in the store looking for it frantically.....lol..At least I had my wallet with me to pay with my card.....I was praying I drop it inside the house and came home to find the money bag in the dog's water bowl...lol...wet money.... Last time when I lost it I wasn't so lucky, it was gone for good....

+1 I agree with Bill. I would definately dip in TLF Revive, great stuff.
