White sponge on acro?

Piper27

I love bengals
Wondering if this white ball of sponge looking thing is harmful. Its on a green smooth skinned pink tipped acro and it shrunk when I pulled it out of water then balled up again when I put it back. I saw the same thing on something at the store where I bought it. If pics are needed let me know but my camera sucks. Any info would help since I have grown paranoid after aefw and an algae prolem.

Guessing maybe a pic would help.

I was thinking it was a tunicate or maybe a sponge like your talking about but then I just read a vermetid snail discription and it does have a little "fishing line" coming from it. Who knows... As long as they are harmless I am happy.

from the pic it looks like a sponge to me, but if it's a vermetid snail you should destroy it (superglue over the end of the tube)-- you should be able to easily tell if it's a sponge or the snail, one has a calcareous tube, one is a sponge. Vermetids will irritate coral and I've had them irritate the skin away on my corals.

If it were me, I'd remove whatever it is sponge or snail, it's not worth the risk to the acro if you can do it easily.

Right on I will see if I can blow it off on a powerhead or something and catch it. Probly a sponge though... Thanks for the suggestions!
