white spots on clam

Here is a pic of the my first clam..it has white spots on it and i noticed them on the second day in tank.It is a little hard to tell from the pic since the spots look blue but in person they are white.Any suggestions on treatment for this and do i need to be worried?

I honestly don't see anything wrong with the clam. The mantle has spots on it, but they seem to be merely the coloration of the clam. any chance you could get more specific pictures of the issue in question?

Those spots that look blue in the pic are white(my camera isnt great). It looks like the clam has ich..i called lfs and they said fw dips.I did one today for about 4 minutes and a few weird critters came flying out..gonna continue this for a few days and hopefully it will work.

In all my years, I've never heard of a clam getting ich. I do not think it is possible. I would do a lot more research before continuing with fresh water dips with clams, it may be doing more damage than good. If the clam looks healthy (as it is in that image, there's no gaping and the mantle is well displayed), there's no rush to treatment.

I am not saying it has ich..i am saying the white spots look close to the way a fish looks when it has ich so you could get an idea of what the clam looks like since the picture does not show the color properly. Some weird looking critters came flying out each time i have done a fw dip.I am guessing this is some sort of clam parasite.I have done it two times so far and plan on doing it a few more times as it has less of thse spots each time i have done it.

Rockymtreefer: Go ahead and do a half-hour freshwater dip. Clams can survive this easily, in fact it is the recommended treatment for pinched mantle disease. Be sure to shake the clam and see how many of those things come off/out.
