Thought we'd share a couple of pics of the new kids... they've been with us for a little over a week:

The larger of the two:

This pair sat on Diver's Den for several months and I can't tell you how many times I added them to my cart and then chickened out. There's not much information on care for these guys, so I finally asked Kevin Kohen for advice to make sure I could properly meet their needs before acquiring these amazing fish.

Cool! I was tempted by these guys, too. Hope they do well for you. What advice did Kevin give?

Thank you! Rather than try to paraphrase, here's an excerpt from Kevin's correspondence with me:
"Terelabrus are shy fish so in an aquarium with very active tank mates they tend to hide, hence the moderate care level. We have had this pair for months and they are very well settled in and conditioned... The general care is similar to any other Labroid as they prefer meaty foods like enriched brine and small mysis and like to jump so a covered overflow and good lid is ideal"

With Kevin's advice, we decided to place them in one of our smaller tanks since we keep a large number of fish in the 300g. Although none of them are aggressive, they are boisterous and can be very assertive at feeding times. After observing the Terelabrus pair's behavior/interaction with other fish in our smaller tank, I know we made the right choice.

The larger of the pair hid for the first day, but since then, they both stay out all day. Surprisingly, they are not shy with people at all. They are very personable and it took them no time at all to learn how to properly beg for food, LOL. :D

Wonderful pictures, as always!

Thank you Peter!

Beautiful fish...how are they with shrimp? :)

That is a good question. There is a tiny (less than .5") peppermint in residents - so far they haven't paid it any attention. Maybe someone who has more experience with these fish will chime in.

Interestingly, we added (3) of those peppermints a while back and two were very tiny (smaller than a jumbo Hikari mysis)... Needless to say our Royal Flasher Wrasse decided they were food and proceeded to eat them. Had I known he might do that, I would have waited until the lights were off to release them.

Delicious. :eek2:Sorry couldn't resist...
bahaahaaaaaaah! :lmao:

...Great shots of some cool looking fish.

Thank you!
