about the Haddoni's... are the spots the only way to tell, and also, there are such things as green carpet anemones that are also haddoni's?

I see these...

and they dont look like carpets, but i want whatever are the toughest and hardy, so please let me know this so i can look.

When someone says "carpet anemone," they are referring to three different species of the genus Stichodactyla. S. Gigantea, S. Mertensii and S. Haddoni are the three carpet anemones so when you use the term "carpet," you could be referring to anyone of those species causing confusion. Seth, when you say "spots," do you mean verrucae? Haddonis do not have the visible verrucae like S. Gigantea and S. Mertensii. The way to tell if it is a S. Haddoni is to look underneath the oral disk of the carpet and see if it has distinct verrucae. If it does not, it is a Haddoni. Of course there are other methods of identification but what I just descibed is the most accurate.

Of course there are green Haddoni anemones. Did you not see rreynell's picture of one? In fact, you just provided a link with a picture of a green Haddoni from the saltwater fish website. In the link you provided was a green Haddoni. There are a couple of color morphs of green such as mint green, bright flourescent green and just a dull color leaf green. Here is a past green Haddoni that I had:

BTW, what size tank is this Haddoni going into and what kind of lighting are you running? Is it under your T5 setup?

ok, but somsone mentioned before that the haddoni's are much hardier than the rest, is that true? and by oral disk, what do you mean? he said if there are no sport on the foot, its a haddonis.....i want to get the right one, and yes, i am still looking...lol

Whoever told you that Haddon's are much hardier than the rest of the carpets is partially incorrect. Yes a Haddoni compared to a Gigantea is much more hardy however S. Mertensii is considered by those that have or had one say that they are even easier to care for than Haddonis. The primary reason why no one knows much about S. Mertensii is because they are not often imported into the US. The most common carpet sold is the Haddoni and that is most likely the carpet you will end up with. If you ever do see a S. Mertensii on sale, take advantage of it but make sure you have the necessary enviroment for it to live in.

The oral disk is basically the big "round thing" that the tentacles are attatched too. If you look under the oral disk and if you see no verrucae (spots), then it is a Haddoni.

ok, thanks, that clarified it for me...lol. I talked to Chris from ReefWorks and he is goign to hook me up with a nice sized and pretty green carpet. He said he will wait til he gets a nice sized, healthy, and good colored one in and he will call me and hold it for me.

thanks for all of the help guys, i really appreciate it. :)
